Get to Know Kahleah Copper: The Philly Powerhouse Helping the Phoenix Mercury's Playoff Push

The Los Angeles Sparks had every chance to clinch the game against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, but instead, the dynamic duo from Philadelphia secured the win for the Mercury.

Mercury's Natasha Cloud put on a show with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Right behind her, fellow Philly native Kahleah Copper dazzled with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Copper, drafted by the Washington Mystics in 2016, went on to spend seven stellar seasons with the Chicago Sky before making her way west to the Phoenix Mercury — a move she once thought she'd never make.

"I was never interested in being this far away from home. I'm a Philly girl," Copper admits. However, playing alongside Cloud has made the transition much smoother.

"We just vibe," she says. "We spend a lot of time together, so it's just been great. Tash is such a crazy competitor. [She] really matches my energy. Me and her are just two peas in a pod."

Copper is averaging over 22 points per game as the Mercury continue their playoff push and has proven she is the go-to player in clutch moments. In an exclusive one-on-one interview, Copper shares her favorite cuddle buddy, why this season feels special, and who she thinks will take the first shot during girls' night out.
